PICTURE NL presented an Evening of Short Films on November 18th at 7:30pm at RAC. Film enthusiasts gathered for a memorable evening hosted by Picture NL, showcasing a diverse lineup of short films that celebrated storytelling, creativity, and artistic expression. The event featured an impressive selection of works, including:

  • After by Nyah Williams
  • Thumbs Up by Mike Simms
  • Scored by Time by Nicola Hawkins
  • Sweet Pickle by Lois Brown

The highlight of the evening was a Q&A session by the founder of Occupy All Spaces, Ife Alaba.

Faeries is the scripted short film that emerged as a result of a three-day bootcamp that brought together 14 aspiring filmmakers and 9 mentors from the Canadian film and television industry. The Black Creatives’ Film Camp provided participants with an immersive, hands-on experience in scripted film production.

Participants gained valuable skills in story development, directing, and production essentials for scripted content. From concept creation to on-set execution, the bootcamp offered an authentic filmmaking experience, equipping attendees with the foundational skills needed to kickstart their careers in the local film and television industry. Starting from concept and bringing the idea to the screen, participants learned about story development, directing, production basics for scripted content. Arming them with the entry level, on-set skills required to work in the local film and television industry.
